Founding Story: In 2025, Ken Bonnigson founded Black Diamond Arms after recognizing a need in the firearms market for customers who wanted harder-to-find firearms without the hassle that often comes with big box stores. For years, Ken had been inundated with questions at gun auctions, such as “Do you have this?” or “Where can I find that, they’re sold out?” He realized there was a gap in the market for a service that could offer customers the ability to easily order the specific firearm they wanted, rather than settling for similar or inferior options. Driven by his years of experience as an auctioneer and firearms enthusiast, Ken set out to create Black Diamond Arms as a destination for those who wanted more control and ease in acquiring the firearms they truly desired.
The name Black Diamond Arms actually comes from a horse Ken and his wife Jen bought, known only as “the black diamond gelding” as a result of his lineage. While the horse had no formal name, he embodied the very concept that Ken wanted to reflect in the business: rare, valuable, and precisely what people need. Just like that horse, Black Diamond Arms aims to provide firearms that meet the specific desires and needs of customers, offering them exactly what they want, exactly when they need it. The name symbolizes not just rarity, but also the promise of quality and reliability that the company strives to deliver to every customer.
